Observation on Sinistral Portal Hypertension

Isolated obstruction of the splenic vein leads to left-sided portal hypertension. which is a rare form of extrahepatic portal hypertension. but it shows favorable surgical results. since it can be cured by splenectomy. The authors review three
cases of
left sided portal hypertension for last five years. Form November 1988 to October 1993.
@ES The results was as follows:
@EN 1. There was normal iver function, splenomegaly, and variceal bleeding in all cases.
2. In 2 cases of splenic vein thrombosis, multiple splenosis of pancreas was the cause of thrombus. In 1 case, there was splenic vein obstruction because of abdominal blunt trauma.
3. In 2 cases, splenectomy, distal pancreatectomy and splenic vein thrombectomy was done. In a case of abdominal blunt trauma, there was severe intraabdominal adhesion, and then splenic arterial embolization in celiac angiogram was done. There
cases
show no rebleeding and good condition for last 3 years.
